Bioinformatics has entered a new era where the amount of information resulting from DNA sequencing, protein studies, and patient information is mind-boggling in quantity. It's no easy feat to deal with this information and make sense out of it, and that is where artificial intelligence (AI) comes in.

Bioinformatics is being revolutionized by artificial intelligence, by transforming how biologists investigate complex biological data. In the analysis of genomes, for instance, machine learning can quickly identify mutations, genes, and disease markers which previously required a lot of human labor. This accelerates research and opens up new opportunities for early detection and therapy.

Another way Ai aids bioinformatics is in protein structure prediction. Machine learning-enabled software like AlphaFold can accurately predict the 3D structure of proteins from amino acid sequences, solving a problem that has confounded scientists for decades. This is helping to speed up the identification of drugs as well as advance the field of molecular biology.

AI also plays a role in personalized medicine. Through the marriage of genetic and clinical data, AI models can suggest tailored treatment protocols, offering better and more personalized care.

Despite challenges, data quality and ethics among them, the impact of AI on bioinformatics is undeniable. It has come a long way from being a tool to being a core partner in unraveling the complexities of life and driving medical science forward.
